What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non psychoactive cannabinoid derived from agricultural hemp. Non psychoactive means that CBD provides numerous health benefits without the "high" feeling from THC. CBD has been known to reduce pain, improve moods, combat stress, enhance relaxation, promote restful sleep, support the immune system and much more. Cannabinoids have shown to regulate the body's natural state of homeostasis (Balance).
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are the primary chemical compounds produced by the cannabis and hemp plants. There are more than 100 identified cannabinoids, with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) being the most well-known produced by the cannabis plant and is the only psychoactive cannabinoid. Of the 100+ non-psychoactive cannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most widely known.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The Endocannabinoid system is a group of cannabinoid receptors located in the brain of mammals and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems, consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. Receptors are found on cell surfaces.
There are two main types of receptors in the Endocannabinoid system, CB1, and CB2.
CB1 receptors are primarily located in the central nervous system and brain.
CB2 are generally found in the peripheral nervous system, especially in cells associated with the immune system.
Does CBD have side effects?
While CBD has many benefits, anything ingested can potentially have a side effect. Undesirable effects of CBD may include drowsiness, dry mouth and light headaches. Always consult a physician before taking any BoostCBD™ products.
How much CBD should I take?
Since everybody metabolizes Cannabidiol differently, dosing CBD is not an exact science. Factors include the concentration of the product, an individual's weight, metabolism, diet, tolerance, genetics, pain/discomfort, environment, and more that make a universally prescribed dosage difficult. The FDA has also not yet created a Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for CBD, this means CBD does not have an official serving size, unlike with other supplements.
Since there is no RDI for CBD and everyone metabolizes CBD differently it's important to determine your initial dosage based on your weight then gauge how your body reacted to that amount of CBD. After this you can increase gradually while monitoring your body’s reactions until you find the a dosage that works for your situation.
The majority of frequent (daily) CBD users find that a dose between 10 and 30 mg (administered once or twice daily) is enough to provide effective relief from a variety of ailments. However, there are people who say less than 5mg per day works well for their symptoms, while others need to take over 100mg to feel relief.
Dosing Tinctures: Tinctures are one of the most popular ways to intake CBD. You fill the dropper (All of our droppers for our tinctures hold up to 1ml of oil), administer the liquid under your tongue, then hold it under your tongue for 30-90 seconds before swallowing, this allows the CBD to absorb into your bloodstream faster than if swallowed immediately which has to enter your bloodstream through your digestive system.
Since our droppers hold 1ml of oil we have a simple formula of determining how much CBD is in each dose, which is [Total CBD per Bottle] ÷ [Number of Milliliters per Bottle] = Milligrams of CBD per 1ml dropper.
For example, using our 750mg 30ml tincture, the formula would be 750(mg)÷30(ml)= 25mg per 1ml dropper.
What are the differences between CBD Isolate, Full spectrum, and Broad Spectrum CBD?
CBD Isolate: CBD isolate contains only CBD. CBD isolate is a pure, crystalline powder that contains 99% pure CBD. All the plant matter contained in the hemp plant, including oils, waxes, chlorophyll, and more are removed. CBD isolate that offers all the benefits of CBD without a trace of THC. This isolated version of CBD is excellent for anyone who is sensitive to THC or can’t have THC show up in their system.
Full Spectrum CBD: Full spectrum CBD is made using the entire hemp plant, meaning it is full of all the terpenes, cannabinoids, and fatty acids found in hemp, all of which have therapeutic value of their own and help create what’s know as the entourage effect. It can be sold legally as long as it contains less than 0.3% THC.
While this minuscule amount typically isn’t enough for people to feel any psychoactive effects, it can still show up in a person’s system.
Broad Spectrum CBD: Broad spectrum CBD products contain an assortment of cannabinoids and terpenes but has zero THC. Manufacturers will put their products through additional processing to isolate and remove as much trace amounts of THC possible while preserving the other natural cannabinoids and terpenes to create Broad Spectrum CBD.
What is the Entourage Effect?
The Entourage Effect is the effect produced from the interaction of all the cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, and fatty acids naturally found in cannabis and hemp. This effect is the benefit you get from ingesting multiple components of the Hemp plant together instead of ingesting only one or two components.
